Kousei:
– Kousei’s dedication to his abusive mom

– Kousei’s mother representing a stagnancy, something structurally holding him back
– The event with his mom stopped him from playing
– Relying on Kaori allowing Kousei to push forward and play
– Playing a piece by standard, without deviation, is fine however when adlibbing and flourishing he falls apart
– “This isn’t even my final form” – Kousei probably
– Kousei jumping off the bridge was a moment of character growth
– Still an incredible musician even though he can’t play
– Feels trapped in his world
– Is not devoid of emotion or is self centered, reciprocated Tsubaki’s friendship
– Is beginning to face his traumas

Kaori:
– Kaori’s colour changing eyes
– Representing freedom, journey and forward progressioon for Kousei’s character growth
– Kaori’s health issues
– Is a shameful concubine now that her back has been seen, she will never be wed
– Tricksy hobbit, tricked Kousei into signing up for a competition
– Was it deflection or concern when she scolded Kousei about his playing?
– Witnessed the depths of how far Kousei had sank and what she was intruding upon

Tsubaki:
– A pushing force, a catalyst
– Knows Kousei inside and out
– Will she confront Kousei about his mom?
– Tsubaki is not ready to admit her feelings regarding Kousei
– Cloudy eyes and darker pallate, representing her beginning to feel down or sad
– Losing interest in her highschool boyfriend once he returned intrest
– Does not understand how she feels
– Looking for reasons to not ‘like’ Kousei
– Is it that Tsubaki is mourning the loss of her relationship with Kousei as they are drifting apart or is the fact that they’re drifting apart is causing Tsubaki to confront the way she feels about Kousei?
– Didn’t even make it past regionals
– Likely feeling isolated as her friend Kaori is growing close with Wateri and Kousei
– Missing a support structure

Watari:
– Surface level is fairly shallow, inside he is sage-like with good advice
– Does Watari care for Kaori?
– Plays netball, likes girls, gave an advice once
– Understands the connection between Kousei and Kaori
– Terrible but is trying to instill good values in Kousei

Predictions:
– Potential to be Drew’s favourite TSW to date
– Was Kousei’s mom change in personality when she fell ill
– Does Kaori have a tumor?
– Will they keep the relationship between Kousei and Tsubaki familial or will it become romantic
– Who’s shoulder will Tsubaki cry on?
– Kousei won’t win the Tournament arc
